Capital One is looking for an energetic, creative and results-driven Principal Communications Associate to join a growing group of PR experts on our Corporate Communications team.

This role will support Capital One’s Auto Finance business, one of the largest auto finance businesses in the country. This individual will partner with business leaders, marketing and brand partners, and agencies to help develop and execute a robust content strategy across channels to position Capital One as a thought leader while highlighting our human-centered, tech-forward products and offerings to a consumer and B2B audience.

This position requires exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills; solid understanding of and experience working with traditional and social media and content platforms; and the ability to build trusted relationships - with both internal and external stakeholders - while operating in a fast-paced, complex environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exhibit a deep understanding of and ability to communicate the benefits, features and key insights related to auto finance products and offerings

  • Work closely and engage with key stakeholders to build trusted relationships
  • Identify themes, topics and content that will resonate with target audiences and meet strategic business objectives
  • Leverage data and insights to inform narratives
  • Contribute to the overall marketing strategy for the business
  • Understand, identify and effectively navigate potential risks and sensitivities

Help develop and execute a robust content strategy across multiple channels including paid, shared and owned media

  • Identify white space for thought leadership strategies, including identifying the right content and channels
  • Help develop a storytelling approach across channels, including paid and owned media
  • Help develop a framework for ongoing content creation for external and internal opportunities
  • Monitor framework for measuring KPIs for communications strategies, including thought leadership initiatives
  • Guide content through brand and legal approvals in compliance with regulatory requirement

Partner and collaborate with Corporate Communications team members to ensure well-managed (consistent, streamlined, value-driven and strategic wherever possible and appropriate) content strategy

  • Effectively manage agency(s) and vendors to support programming
  • Assess risks, issues and potential communications problems and provide proactive solutions

Embrace research, measurement and analytical thinking as a means to drive Impact

  • Ensure all work is executed through a lens of strategic impact and measurement, leveraging the latest tools and technology to showcase how communications is driving business outcomes, brand awareness and engagement


Support Capital One enterprise communications

  • Connect the dots across Capital One Auto Finance PR and the broader Corporate Communications team to drive efficiencies and create value for our business partners
  • Identify ways to enhance Capital One’s reputation, ensuring all efforts reflect and bolster the enterprise narrative


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree of military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in external communications or at least 3 years of experience in consumer Public Relations (PR) or at least 3 years of combined experience in external communications and consumer public relations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience executing multi-channel integrated campaigns in an external communications role
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and media analysis tools such as Zignal
