The Role
We’re searching for an energetic and experienced Media Relations Manager to join our innovative, collaborative and fast-paced Marketing team. Our ideal colleague is a self-motivated and strategic storyteller with a proven track record of building and growing successful public relations campaigns in technology and/or healthcare sectors. This individual excels at pitching and drives a steady drumbeat of high-impact stories that advance the company’s mission and goals.
As a primary point of contact for reporters, the Media Relations Manager nurtures and maintains close relationships with journalists who cover health, technology and business. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Media Relations, he/she/they work cross-functionally with teams across the organization and oversees key aspects of the PR program. With a passion for improving student health and well-being, this versatile team member thrives as a leader and a team player.

What You'll Do:

  • Shape and ensure consistent messaging and narratives to support the company’s vision to help students be well and thrive.
  • Develop and implement media relations strategies to support TimelyMD services, thought leadership platforms and subject matter experts.
  • Enterprise story ideas and take creative approaches to generating positive press and awareness among journalists and influencers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the marketing team to ensure coordinated editorial calendar planning and supporting PR tactics.
  • Coordinate with partner institutions and students for testimonials.
  • Develop and maintain relevant media lists.
  • Oversee the company’s online newsroom.
  • Lead efforts to monitor, analyze and report on media coverage; manage the relationship with TimelyMD’s media monitoring partner.
  • Work closely with the social media team to ensure consistent positioning, tone and story amplification.
  • Prepare and coach spokespeople for interviews and speaking engagements.
  • Manage and enhance the company’s program for awards and speaking opportunities.
  • When tough issues arise, support reputation and crisis management efforts.
  • Assist the AVP of Media with ongoing program management, such as planning, budgets and timelines.
  • Represent TimelyMD at industry events, conferences and as a spokesperson, as needed.

What You Bring:

  • Required Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 5-7+ years of successful media relations experience in health and/or tech sectors
  • Robust network of and strong relationships with media contacts
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Experience coaching company leaders in a PR capacity
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience handling reputational issues and familiarity with best practices in crisis communications
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail while simultaneously managing multiple projects
  • Understanding of traditional and digital marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing
