Department: Communications
Reports to: Director of Communication
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will increase awareness, traffic, and sales by promoting the Modern and its collection, exhibitions, and programs with accurate, engaging, and professionally presented information through channels including social media, advertising, public relations, and member communications.
Scope of Position: Full-time position, works closely with the Director of Communications, Communications department team, and other department managers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage social media accounts and online presence including writing, scheduling, and tracking each account. Monitor inquiries and coordinate appropriate responses.
- Coordinate with museum photographer/videographer to develop visual online/social media content.
- Monitor and report on social media analytics, trends, and online usage statistics to help our team measure results and determine strategies to optimize marketing initiatives and campaigns.
- Coordinate, design, and execute promotional print collateral and e-communications in coordination with the museum’s art director.
- Publish and ensure web content is accurate, accessible, and uploaded on schedule.
- Maintain third-party online content and monitor for reviews, responses, and general information.
- Coordinate responses to general inquiries from the public.
- Participate in planning, development, and implementation of new media strategies.
- Complete special projects and other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or graphic design
- Background in design, art, or art history preferred
- 1–2 years’ experience working for an organization or company in a communications position
- Solid understanding of best practices for all social media platforms and management tools
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and email design/distribution programs like Constant Contact
- Knowledge of Facebook/Meta advertising platform, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Creative, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
- Organized, detail oriented, and a team player
