This individual will be responsible to develop communications products and strategies that assist in the development of financial and resource support for the institution, including responding to the growing campus needs for more facilities, scholarships and resources to ensure student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, propose and implement communications strategies that enhance and support the university’s fund-raising, alumni relations and donor cultivation activities. (25%)
Collaborate with development staff to propose and develop communications content and products, including concept, general design, content and messaging and overall look, supervising production through completion of all collateral. (25%)
Develop and maintain, as required, content for university development and alumni relations webpages and electronic communications platforms, and online event invitation, response and registration systems. (15%)
Work closely with University Advancement communications staff for message alignment, develop gift press releases and donor and alumni stories for university publications, and share content across multiple platforms, repurpose original storylines for other uses and adhere to university branding and style guide specifications and high quality of produced elements. (10%)
Coordinate closely with Schools and Colleges within UTA and their communications/marketing staff to share materials and identify content related to the support of the university’s fund-raising, alumni relations and donor cultivation activities. (10%)
Coordinate distribution of high volume email campaigns, social media marketing efforts, direct mail, paid marketing strategies, e-newsletters, and other means of reaching donors and alumni to generate support. Conduct analysis of development communications effectiveness and performance. (10%)
Performs other duties as assigned. Manage staff and student workers as may be assigned. (5%)
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, non-profit management, public relations or equivalent experience.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in high-volume communications or marketing environment in a medium to large organization, corporation or institution.
Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
Must possess excellent persuasive and case writing skills.
Strong project management experience in communications, marketing or public relations.
Demonstrated positive, collegial and collaborative work style.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Superior writing and oral communication skills.
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Multi-media skills such as online publishing, blogging, video, graphic design, online photo presentation, etc. and working competency with associated programs.
An ability to smoothly manage multiple initiatives at varying stages of development. Detail oriented, with the demonstrated ability personally to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to be responsive, and navigate and implement an approval process in a highly matrixed environment.
Experience working in high-volume communications or marketing environment in a medium to large organization, corporation or institution preferred.
Previous experience in education or higher education preferred.
Experience with fundraising and customer relationship management systems used in alumni relations and development (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud NetCommunity, iModules, Scalefunder etc.) preferred.
Track record or experience working in a medium to large non-profit in support of fund raising, donor cultivation and garnering financial support preferred.
Masters Degree or above in related field preferred.
