Location: Mt. Vernon or Sulphur Springs, Texas area

Position Type: Monthly Contract (40 hours/month)

About Us: The Sugarberry CCS Hub is a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in development in the Northeast Texas area. Committed to sustainability and community engagement, we are seeking a proactive and locally connected individual to join us as a Community Representative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay Informed: Keep our team updated on key local issues that could impact our project, such as regulatory changes, competitor activities, and community sentiment.
  • Coordinate Meetings: Arrange and facilitate meetings with landowners, local leaders, and other stakeholders to foster support and address concerns.
  • Serve as Point of Contact: Act as the primary local contact for the project, representing us in a public capacity and providing contact information for inquiries.
  • Office Staffing: Identify, maintain and staff the local project office for designated hours each week, serving as a resource for community members.
  • Foster Support: Cultivate support for the project among local leaders, neighbors, and the wider community through proactive engagement and relationship-building efforts.
  • Attend and Speak: Represent the project at local meetings and events, occasionally speaking on our behalf to advocate for project objectives.
  • Schedule Coordination: Manage scheduling and coordination of meetings for the project team, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration.

Day-to-Day Tasks:

  • Help to establish and operate a local office near the storage field.
  • Staff the local office for set hours each week.
  • Participate in project calls to stay informed and contribute to discussions.
  • Accompany senior team members to local meetings and presentations to provide a local perspective and presence.
  • Field inquiries about the project and collaborate with the team to develop appropriate responses.
  • Attend local meetings of significance to gather information and network with stakeholders.
  • Represent the project at chamber and economic development organization meetings as a designated team representative.
  • Identify and recommend sponsorship and donation opportunities to support community initiatives.


  • Strong understanding of local community dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in community engagement, public relations, or related fields is preferred.
  • Must be a local resident or have strong ties to the area.
