Duties include managing the overall development, planning, coordination and promotion of citywide festivals, community promotion programs and other events – developing themes and comprehensive, documented event plans; researching and recruiting performing artists; developing event budgets, layouts and operational needs; negotiating terms and conditions of contracts; working with vendors, volunteers, community groups and other City departments to further event objectives; coordinating technical audio and visual aspects of event production; writing, editing and producing scripts for event productions and graphic art concepts for special event promotion; and preparing event marketing materials such as news releases, website content, print advertising and other promotional literature. Duties also include supervising volunteers and contracted event personnel; conducting broadcast promotion interviews on Irving Community Network Television; facilitating Volunteer Advisory Committee meetings; researching and securing grant funding, corporate sponsorship opportunities and donations; and coordinating departmental / internal events. A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, with a major in public relations, recreation administration or a related field and three years of experience in the implementation of recreational, social, and cultural programs and activities required. Must have a good driving record and have, or be able to obtain, a Texas Class C driver’s license. A résumé must be submitted with application.
