Southern Methodist University (SMU), a nationally ranked private university located near the heart of Dallas, seeks a Marketing Specialist to oversee multiple program level campaigns to achieve enrollment objectives for credit bearing certificates and online master’s degrees.
This position is expected to have sufficient practitioner skill to understand, propose, and execute creative content and tactical strategy, but primarily functions as a project manager coordinating with contracted specialists in web development, graphic design, SEO, etc. They must be able to manage the needs of all constituents and act as the point of contact between the department and the support team (including vendors) and SMU marketing.

Review and meet with internal and external partners on strategy, deliverables, and deadlines. Collaborate and communicate with team to ensure marketing plan/calendar/budget is followed and program goals are being met. Advocate for the needs of Global and Online, report on the contractor’s progress and evaluate their performance.
Collaborate with content team to make decisions regarding quantity and distribution of fliers/brochures and full integration of print with digital email and social campaigns. Directly oversees delivery of identified creative assets; including researching, writing/editing/proofing, printing, buying lists and posting/mailing/sending piece.
Coordinating logistics for events, placing ads, organizing/creating content, printing fliers, ordering promotional items, posting on social media for SMU or professional organizations' events and making timely updates for departmental web pages in keeping with SMU template, department strategy, and marketing best practices.
Edit and approve email copy and distribution lists in collaboration with program team. Achieve mastery of email automation software (Pardot) templates and calendars to generate drip campaigns, series, communication plans, and program work-flow automation on a per program basis and evaluate performance as part of integrated digital strategy.
Oversee implementation of program marketing plans, performance indicators and budget; track monthly goals and follow-up with formal quarterly reports at meetings. Assist with ad-hoc reports and sharing dashboards as needed. Ensures the content team is knowledgeable of all marketing opportunities, initiatives, performance and educates on trends.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required; preferably in marketing, communications, advertising, or journalism.
A minimum of three years’ marketing experience focused on planning and execution including traditional (print and media) but primarily digital marketing including social, paid search, and display is required.
Experience in executing creative and digital strategies is required.
Project management experience is required.
Experience in on-line education environment is preferred.
Experience in evaluating various on-line advertising channels to achieve business objectives is essential.

Candidates must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of constituencies
Candidate must possess strong writing and verbal communication skills with a high degree of precision.
Candidates must demonstrate strong project-management and organizational skills to effectively set self-directed and institutionally led priorities while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Candidates must have the ability to create and maintain reports measuring effectiveness of Web-site and e-marketing activities.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate problems, as well as devise effective solutions.
Candidates must be a self-starter with minimal supervision and demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
Candidates must have a working knowledge of HTML and Web best practices, Google Analytics, and digital performance metrics.
Experience with CRM applications and knowledge of basic database structure is essential.
