The ideal candidate for this mid-level marketing & communications position is someone who works well in a fast-paced environment, is an excellent writer, communicator and strategic thinker that will own and manage all brand communications for this 53-year-old institution.

The Marketing & Communications Manager is in charge of both traditional and digital marketing. Responsibilities included creating, implementing, and overseeing internal and external communication programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its mission. This role performs a variety of tasks, such as the creation and development of print and online advertising, email marketing, social media management, web site management and content development, press releases, blogs, promotional videos, marketing collateral, marketing RFP development, and marketing budget development and cost tracking. This role also plays an integral role in the planning, promoting and execution of both signature and community events.

This position is based in Dallas, TX. www.bgcdallas.org. Some nights and weekends will be required.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Marketing & Communications Manager is in charge of both traditional and digital marketing communications processes. The MarComm Manager is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing communication programs, be it internal or external, that effectively describe and promote the organization and its mission. This role performs a variety of tasks, such as the creation and development of print and online advertising, email marketing, social media management, web site management and content development, press releases, blogs, promotional videos, marketing collateral, marketing RFP development, and marketing budget development and cost tracking. This role also plays an integral role in the planning, promoting and execution and both signature and community events.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

 Leadership:

  • Uphold the brand image of organization
  • Support goals of Strategic Plan set forth by VP and BOD to Reach Agency’s Funding Needs and Brand Awareness
  • Understanding of budgets
  • Proactive and reactive decision-making
  • Understands process improvement
  • Maintain good public relations with donors and prospects
  • Work closely with contracted public relations, graphic design and web developers to produce materials, advertising and collateral

Marketing & Communications:

  • Manage the organization’s communication calendar across all channels
  • Manage the creation of all print and digital advertising and promotion
  • Write the copy for all print and digital channels, including the organization’s Annual Report
  • Manage Organization’s website, social media channels and content development
  • Create and implement effective marketing and awareness campaigns leading to stronger brand awareness, new donors and retention of existing donors
  • Manage video production process and develop content for promotional videos
  • Fulfill all marketing and PR requirements agreed upon in LOAs and MOUs with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and all other grants and/or sponsorships
  • Assist the VP and Manager of Corporate Relations in all stewardship required for grants, sponsorship's, and signature event recaps.
  • Manage relationships and projects with vendors/ independent contractors providing creative services, printing, video production, photography and promotional items

Events:

  1. Assist with planning, promoting and executing signature events
  2. Manage relationships with event vendors and sponsors, as well as contractors such as event planners, graphic designers, PR agencies and printers
  3. Manage marketing needs of 3rd party events
  4. Special thank you’s from Club members as needed
  5. Work cross-functionally with various departments and Club staff to develop communications for special project needs

Resource Development:

  • Participate in Resource Development Subcommittee Meetings to update and report on all marketing goals and challenges
  • Assist with Creation of Direct Mail acquisition and renewal campaigns for the annual fund
  • Oversee and Manage the organization’s brand across all cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities

Technology:

  • Manage and Develop Content for Website
  • Develop digital promotions (Blog, Social Media)
  • Create Email Promotions through Email Service Provider System
  • Ensure Marketing and Communications Contacts are Captured in the Information Management System

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

May be assigned special projects periodically

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:  Maintain contact with Board of Directors, Club staff, volunteers, and Club members as needed for project

External:  Maintain contact with potential and current donors, external community groups, parents, school officials, parents and school officials, and others as required by project

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred in Marketing or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs
  • Strong writing and editing skills for print and presentation projects.
  • Proficient at Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe InDesign.
  • Experience in using Raiser’s Edge or other CRM.
  • Experience in filming and editing videos for social media and web site.
  • Proven and demonstrated use of all social media platforms.
  • Self-motivated, confident, energetic, creative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies as needed
