Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Communications Specialist. The appointee will report directly to the Executive Director of Communications and work closely with the award-winning MISD Communications Department. The appointee will be responsible for providing meaningful acknowledgement of student and employee achievements through recognition opportunities and special events and assist in supporting both internal and external marketing communications efforts.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a related field.
Preference will be given to applicants who:
--have excellent journalism writing and interpersonal skills
--have a willingness and ability to work as part of a creative team
--are flexible and willing to take on new duties as it becomes necessary
--possess strong organizational skills
--have knowledge of conversational Spanish
--have an understanding and acceptance of professional confidentiality
--possess a knowledge of good public relations practices
--demonstrate a proficiency with common software programs (e.g. Microsoft
Office applications), as well as an aptitude for learning new software as necessary
--exhibit a self-starter mentality with the ability to work with limited supervision
--educational certification not required
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Salary: Pay Range: Administrative 1; $56,400 - $81,200; 226 days
