A Few Simple Rules: What Leaders Need To Know About Strategic, Effective Communication, But Don’t Ask Until It’s Too Late

Lots of studies show that most major organizational initiatives, whether outsourcing, restructuring, or integrating an acquisition, fail to deliver the promised results, or when they do, rarely at the targeted costs. “Inadequate” or “ineffective” communication by leadership almost always emerges as a root cause of failure, often the root cause.

Leadership communication failures are legion; yet the rules of strategic and effective communication are simple.

Join us as Barry Mike reviews the few simple rules that leaders must know and use if they are to be effective communicators, or more accurately, effective leaders – because the fact is, you can’t be one without the other.

About the Speaker

Barry Mike is a managing director for CRA, Inc., a management consultancy specializing in solving business problems whose cause or solution is communications.

He has worked extensively as a trusted advisor and leadership communication coach with partners at the world’s leading strategic consulting firm.

Barry joined CRA after extensive corporate communication experience working with senior executives on strategic leadership communication at T. Rowe Price, Pizza Hut, Verizon, and HP.

Barry received his MBA with honors from the Executive MBA Program at the Cox School of Business at SMU. He also has two MAs in the social sciences, as well as a BA in history from the University of Pennsylvania. Though he currently resides in Dallas, Texas, he remains a formerly forlorn fan of the Boston Red Sox.
