The Department of Strategic Communication in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas, invites application for a full-time instructor position in the area of public relations and/or advertising to begin in the 2018-19 academic year. We seek candidates with expertise in strategic communication agency operation and at least five years of experience in either public relations or advertising.
Applicants should be able to teach introductory and upper level courses in agency operations, writing, public relations, advertising, creative strategy, campaigns, and other required courses in the major. Strong relationships and experiences with the advertising and/or PR industry are highly desirable. Evidence of a strong teaching record and of advising a student agency or co-curricular activity/organization at the undergraduate level is preferred. Professional experiences in working at an agency or in managing client relationships are essential.
Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in communication or a related field. The successful candidate will teach at least two regular courses per semester and also teach the equivalent of another two regular courses per semester during training, advising and meeting sessions with student agency members.
Roxo is TCU’s student-driven advertising and public relations agency in the Department of Strategic Communication, based in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication. Since 2011, Roxo has served more than 35 businesses and organizations in North Texas, plus an international client from Panama. During this time, more than 150 student have worked at Roxo to gain industry experience, portfolio pieces, and education that goes beyond the classroom.
The Bob Schieffer College of Communication
The college, which is named for TCU alumnus and longtime CBS network TV correspondent Bob Schieffer, is the academic home for about 1,000 undergraduate students majoring in four departments (Communication Studies; Film, Television and Digital Media; Journalism; and Strategic Communication). More than 30 graduate students pursue master’s degrees in Communication Studies and Strategic Communication, and about 50 full-time and 25 part-time faculty teach in the college. The college’s award-winning student activities include print, video and digital news media, a forensics and debate team, an advertising and public relations agency, a radio station and sports broadcasting productions.
