The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking to fill the position of Communications Specialist for its Business Services Division. The successful candidate will manage the water department’s social media communications, assist other communications specialists with developing and implementing social media communications as part of their overall communications projects, and conduct planning and implementation of communication campaigns for assigned projects. This includes developing social media posts, online communications, printed materials and video.  Applications must be made online.  This person will work with other areas of the water department to develop and implement the communication campaigns to inform targeted audiences about issues related to drinking water, wastewater and reclaimed water. This includes creating and editing content and materials for a variety of platforms, including social media, website, video and print. This person must be able to work on a team, develop community partnerships, and develop and make presentations, as assigned.

 Preferences include: social media planning, implementation and tracking, implementing social marketing, or implementing lifestyle changing programs. Knowledge of community organizations, video production, news media relations and special events planning strongly preferred. Desktop publishing skills using Adobe Creative Suite products (In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, etc.) Bilingual - English / Spanish, understand, speak, read and write preferred.

 Office environment with travel to various locations; some evenings and weekend work required. Rotating 24/7 on-call.

 The following education and/or experience or its equivalent is the minimum standard which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Social Sciences, Marketing, Public Health, Public Administration, or a related field PLUS two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in communications, public relations or marketing.
