The Department of Public Relations in the College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public Relations with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research and teaching in public relations and strategic communication. Appointment begins September 1, 2018 with faculty on-duty August 22, 2018.
Applicants must complete a Ph.D. in public relations or a related field of study by August 2018. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of or potential for high-quality research, teaching excellence, and ability to secure external funding for their research.
Candidates with research emphasis in risk communication/disaster preparedness, and a mix of the following research areas are desired: environmental communication, science communication, media relations, community relations, crisis communication, new and emerging media, media entrepreneurship, and public communication campaigns.
Prior professional experience in public relations and/or strategic communication is preferred.
Successful candidates must be able to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in public relations, strategic communication, and courses related to their research expertise. Successful candidates are expected to advise and mentor highly motivated master’s and doctoral students and perform service at the department, college, university, and professional levels. The standard teaching load is four courses per academic year.
